The 2026 Physical Oceanography Meeting (EOF 2026) will take place in Cádiz on July 8, 9 and 10, 2026.
This meeting represents, both nationally and internationally, an important opportunity for the Spanish Physical Oceanography community. Scientific and research staff will have the opportunity to present the progress achieved in their research, establish synergies, and build a valuable network of collaborations to foster the efficient growth of this discipline.
The city of Cádiz, bathed by the waters of the Atlantic and surrounded by a rich maritime tradition, stands out as a privileged location for the development and dissemination of research in marine sciences and oceanography. Its strategic location and natural environment make Cádiz an ideal place for the promotion and international projection of physical oceanography in Spain, strengthening its presence in the European and global arena.
An emblematic venue for all kinds of events and celebrations. The Cádiz Conference Center is built using the structures of the former tobacco factory and on the site of the city’s former alhóndiga.

Ocean Robotics Session
The special session will focus on the use of autonomous ocean observation platforms to advance physical, chemical, geological, and biological oceanography. Scientific results obtained through ocean vehicles such as USVs, gliders, AUVs, and ROVs will be presented, applied to the study of ocean circulation, mixing and stratification, heat and salt transport, oxygen dynamics, the carbon cycle, and ecological and biological processes.
Special emphasis will be given to studies demonstrating how these autonomous systems enable the analysis of previously inaccessible temporal and spatial scales, as well as research on meso- and submesoscale dynamics, interactions between physics and biogeochemistry, episodic events, data validation, uncertainty assessment, and integration with models and other observation systems. Contributions from both coastal and open-ocean environments will also be welcome.
